DEDICATION

Mark’s Gospel was written by the church’s first “youth” and he wrote it for the second-generation of Christians and particularly for those outside of Jerusalem. So it only seems appropriate to dedicate this book to two wonderful young people, my own children Amanda and Taylor.

Until the two of you were born I thought I knew about love. After I held you in my arms, I learned the fullness of the love God must have had for his own son, Jesus. As I watched you grow, I learned the responsibilities of humankind in co-creating God’s universe. Now, as I watch you prepare to leave, I learn the humility and brevity of life. Love and responsibility, humility and brevity (not wasting time on anything but love). I hope I have passed on at least a few of these traits to you, the next generation of church.
